20" Dragonfluy

The 20" Dragonfly shade is a classic Tiffany Studios lamp design that can be created in any colorization. Commissioned by a client in Iowa, this piece has a warm amber glow that is enlivened with hints of blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. The granite textured background glass gives the shade a sparkling surface which the dragonflies dart across. The shade is shown on the Twisted Vine base.

Lamp of the Week: 14" Geranium

The sight of colorful potted geraniums appearing on porches and in gardens means that spring and summer have finally arrived. In this example, bright red flowers and heavily mottled leaves are set against a lightly colored fracture/streamer background glass. This 14" Geranium shade was commissioned by an East Coast client in 2006, together with the Leaf & Bud Pottery base. This particular lamp was recently sold at auction, where adding the buyer's premium to the gavel price, it sold for more than the current price from our studio.

22" Turtleback Turban on Perforated Base

The geometric upper and lower portions of this 22" Turtleback Turban shade are cut from heavily mottled, richly colored red & green glass. The band of hand cut turtleback tiles is made from very deeply toned black cherry colored turtlebacks. The overall effect is a shade with a dark,  brooding personality. Made for a local client, this distinctive shade is shown on the popular Perforated base. The addition of the corkscrew "pigtail" cap adds the finishing touch to this large table lamp.

Lamp of the Week: 28" Trumpet Vine

The 28" Trumpet Vine is a large shade that is usually hung as a chandelier fixture, but can also be used as a floor or table lamp. Commissioned in 2012 by a client in Chicago, this shade employs many types of glass to create an explosion of color and texture. Ring mottled, streaky, fracture, and ripple glasses are combined to make the shade exciting to view from every angle. The glass used for the background of the shade is made from three different fracture/streamer glasses created at our studio, and the color shifts from deep purple to several lighter blue/purple mixes. The decorative beaded border at the bottom of the lamp adds a whimsical touch to the piece.

20" Poppy

The 20" Poppy is one of Tiffany Studios' most successful lamp designs with a pattern that emphasizes an economy of line that is both pleasing and balanced. A horizontal band of leaves rests upon three lower border rows, visually grounding the design, while vertical leadlines representing the slender flower stems ascend towards the top of the shade. Each stem supports a bud or open flower. The 20" Poppy has pierced metal filigree on the flower centers and behind the leaves, giving the shade added depth.

For this shade, we have chosen warm tones of amber, yellow, and red. The brilliant red flowers are created from a variety of streaky, mottled and ripple glasses. The sunny amber/yellow background glass is streaked with orange, red and teal. Emerald green appears in the buds and rippled border rows, while a mottled green and cherry red glass is used for the leaves. The overall effect of the coloration is warm and inviting.

Shown on the Bump base, this lamp has been created as a studio piece and is currently available for purchase in our showroom.

Lamp of the Week: 16" Peacock

The carefully modulated jewel tones of this 16" Peacock shade shift from purple at the top to green at the bottom, with brilliant blue as the main color. This swirling pattern of overlapping peacock feathers is both realistic and abstract. The shade, commissioned in 2016, is shown on the Bell Pepper base. Both the shade and base were created at our studio.

18 Light Lily Table Lamp

At Century Studios, our reproduction Tiffany Lily Lamps are created in our studio. The lower portion of the lamp is cast in bronze and the metalwork is finished with an authentic verdigris patina. Each Lily Lamp comes with mouth-blown gold lustre shades, which give a pleasant warm glow. We have just completed this 18 Light Lily Table Lamp, which is available for purchase in our showroom.

A milestone in the history of lighting design, Louis Comfort Tiffany introduced Lily Table Lamps in the 1890's and showed the world what could be created with an electric light bulb and some imagination. This illuminated sculpture is inspired by a cluster of water lilies, with the lustre glass flowers nodding gently above the bronze lily pads and buds. Even the light bulb was incorporated into the design, forming the stamen of each blossom.

Lamp of the Week: 18" Oriental Poppy

The 18" Oriental Poppy is a wonderfully detailed Tiffany Studios shade pattern. The three horizontal border rows add a visual structure to the design which the multitude of flowers and buds play against. This example, created in 2014 for a local client, has an explosion lush red and orange poppies against vibrant blues, purples, and greens. The shade is shown on the elegant Library base.
