12" Zodiac
The 12" Zodiac is a Century Studios original shade design that we introduced last fall. The shade has a Celtic motif of intertwining border rows that divide the shade into quadrants, each of which has a large round turtleback tile. The surface of the shade is also studded with three dimensional glass jewels.
Textured glass features prominently in this example. A heavily rippled orange/amber glass was chosen for the main border rows. Secondary border rows in a light green surround insets of heavily rippled yellow glass. The combination of textures and jewels results in a shade that is difficult not to want to touch and run your hands over when seen in person. Shown on the elegant Torpedo base, this lamp is now in a private local collection.

Lamp of the Week: 36" Pond Lily
The 36" Pond Lily Chandelier is the largest reproduction Tiffany Studios lamp we create. With its generous size and strong horizontal lines, this shade transports the viewer to the edge of a quiet pond in summer. Water lilies in varying shades of white, pink, and yellow dot the sparkling blue surface of this unusually shaped shade. The water glass is a mix of mottled, streaky and gently rippled glasses. Tiffany Studios designed this lamp to be a large chandelier fixture. This shade was created as a showroom piece in 2016 and is now in a private collection.

16" Geranium Pair
We began the new year by completing a matching pair of 16" Geranium shades for a client in California. Scarlet flower clusters hover above densely mottled leaves in various tones of green tinged with red, amber, and blue. The background glass is a semi-transparent fracture/streamer glass. The shade is shown on the Flower Petal base.

Lamp of the Week: 16" Dogwood
This 16" Dogwood shade has a clear blue sky that is created from an unusual fracture/streamer glass with a hammered texture. The flowers and leaves are a combination of ring mottled, streaky, and fracture/streamer glasses. The flower petals are tinged with yellow, green, and pink, while the leaves have touches of amber and teal. The purple ripple border gives the shade an additional touch of color. Shown on the Greek Urn base, this lamp was made as a studio example in 2017 and is now in a private collection.

Chain Mail Lantern
This Chain Mail Lantern is the first of several we are making for a home in California. Tiffany Studios used chain mail for many different pendant fixtures and lamps, lending ethereal floating quality to the pieces. The fixture is made with a pale green glass, and chain mail can be made in any color.

Lamp of the Week: 16" Snowball Pair
This pair of 16" Snowball shades was commissioned in 2015 by a client in Michigan. Lamp of the Week: 28" Lemon Tree with Birds
The 28" Lemon Tree with Birds is a Century Studios original shade design by Bill Campbell. This generously proportioned shade takes its inspiration from a Tiffany Studios pictorial wall mosaic. Groupings of blue and yellow birds nestle among tree branches laden with ripening fruit. This example has a tropical color palette with a strong emphasis on yellow, green, and turquoise. The rich browns of the intertwining tree branches and shots of blue in the birds add definition to the color scheme.

Lamp of the Week: New Designs Introduced In 2018
2018 was a busy year at Century Studios. In addition to the many commission and showroom pieces we created, we were able to introduce some new items to our ever expanding lamp offerings. Last year, we added two original shade designs, revived an original shade design that had been dormant for over 30 years, and added two Tiffany reproduction lamp bases.
We first introduced the 16" Oz Logo lamp in the early 1980's when we were making many Wizard of Oz themed stained glass pieces for Books of Wonder in New York City. After a few years of production, this design was set aside until last Fall, when it was commissioned by an Oz enthusiast.
The 9" Iris, a highly detailed Century Studios original shade design was introduced in early October. This torchiere style shade is covered in Iris flowers clustered together in a impressionistic burst of color. The shade is shown on the Doric Column Torchiere base. This lamp is currently available for purchase in our showroom.
The 12" Zodiac shade is a Century Studios original shade pattern that as inspired by the Zodaic base. The design uses motifs found in Tiffany Studios Zodiac Desk Set pieces and larger Tiffany Zodiac shades. Decorative borders intertwine across the surface of the shade which is also studded with small three dimensional pressed glass jewels and our large round turtleback jewels.
Introduced with this shade was the Zodiac base. Taking molds from an original Tiffany example, this petite base works well with any 12" shade.
We introduced the impressive Arrowhead Mosaic base in January 2018. This large base can be used with any 16" shade. The hand applied glass mosaic can be custom colored to compliment the colors used in the shade.
2019 promises to be even busier than last year, and we look forward to the exciting variety of pieces we will be working on.
