Welcome 2025

We jumped into 2025 both feet first with a number of projects for clients. At the end of last year we completed the cutting and fitting for a 22" Dragonfly shade. The first order of business for the new year was to foil this shade.

After foiling the shade, Irwin Terry has been working on the soldering for the shade.

Bill Campbell moved on to the layout of an 18" Calamondin Orange Tree lamp.

Bill designed this lamp in 2014. With just under 2050 individual pieces of glass, this shade has more pieces than any other lamp we offer.

Every shade is created by hand, one piece at a time. Laying out and cutting the first piece for a new shade is always exciting. Bill began with the tiny flower petal pieces.
This past week we also prepared waxes for our first trip to the foundry this year. We will be picking up unfinished bronze castings when we drop off these waxes.

If the first two weeks are any indication, 2025 is going to be a very busy year!

Lamp of the Week: 18" Tyler

The 18" Tyler is a shade design with a calming presence in which a geometric ground is overlaid with a playful scrolling ribbon. Set against a green geometric background, the scrolling ribbon has a mix of warm amber and green tones. This shade was created for a client in New Jersey in 2014. The shade is shown on the classic Decorated Trumpet base (22" tall).

Studio Hours and Lamp of the Week

The 28" Poinsettia is the largest reproduction Tiffany Studios poinsettia shade we make. This generously proportioned shade has a non repeating pattern and is the perfect showcase for a variety of rich red glasses. This naturalistic shade was originally designed as a chandelier cone, but can also be used as a large table lamp or on a Junior Floor base. This example was commissioned in 2009 by a Midwest client.

20" Azalea

The 20" Azalea has a modified Turban shape that is densely covered with intertwining branches, leaves and flowers.
In addition to the imaginative glass selections, Tiffany Studios always found ways to surprise and engage viewers with their lamps. Some shades incorporated jewels or filigree. The open flowers on the 20" Azalea are enhanced with beads of sculpted solder. The beads are employed to represent the stamens of the flowers, giving the shade a lively three dimensional quality.

Velvety red flowers with hints of fuchsia abundantly cover the shade. Woody stems and fresh green leaves create a lush tangle worthy of the thicket that surrounded Sleeping Beauty's castle. The background shifts from a light grey/blue down to green, adding fullness to the design.
The shade is shown on the Bird Skeleton base (26.5" tall), an organic base that mimics the branch work in the shade. This shade was commissioned by a client and is now in their private collection.

Lamp of the Week: 18" Poinsettia

Traditionally considered to be a decorative seasonal plant, poinsettias were a favorite subject for Tiffany Studios lamp designs and appear on multiple sizes of shades. The 18" Poinsettia shade has a wide band of flowering plants on the lower half of the shade with a prominent trellis above. For this shade, bold tones of blue, green, and red are combined to dramatic effect. The shade is shown on the elegant Library base (22.5" tall). The lamp was created for a client in Massachusetts in 2017.

Bonus Lamp of the Week: 16" Poinsettia

While several projects near completion, here is a bonus Lamp of the Week.

The 16" Poinsettia presents the exuberant plant in a formal, stylized way that still conveys the playfulness of the flowers. The wide floral band is bookmarked by warm yellow geometric tiles that have a hint of green. The shade is shown on the Small Stick base (20" tall). We created this lamp over 15 years ago and is in a private collection.
