16" Indian Basket

This 16" Indian Basket shade is a Century Studios adaptation of a Tiffany Studios chandelier fixture. Commissioned by a North Carolina client, this table lamp has a unique look amongst Tiffany shade patterns.

Our adaptation was inspired by an original 24" hanging fixture created by Tiffany Studios. The fixture is a unique design that was created for Robert deForest, a friend of Louis C. Tiffany. Both men collected Native American baskets and the original shade graced a hall in deForest's home where he displayed his collection. The original fixture is now displayed in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Over the years we have had several clients ask for a version of this design sized for use as a table lamp. This is the third version we have created. The shade is shown on the Grooved base.

Lamp of the Week: 22" Nasturtium on Mosaic Turtleback Base

Commissioned by a Chicago area client in 2001, this is a big, bold lamp. The 22" Nasturtium shade is a pattern that lends itself to strong colors and an interesting variety of glass. Rippled and textured glass give the shade a three dimensional look that is accentuated by the strong color choices.

The Mosaic Turtleback base is, according to our client, "The Mother of all bases!" We agree that this large base has all the bells and whistles. Created in our studio using molds taken off an original Tiffany example, this is the most expensive base we offer.

20" Dragonfly

New to our showroom is this 20" Dragonfly shade. The glass selected for this shade is bright and inviting, with golden tones complimenting the lavender tinged purples. The lower border rows are created from a deep golden rippled glass, and the blue jewels add a lively contrast to the colors in the shade.

The 20" Dragonfly is shown on the Twisted Vine table base. We offer 16 different table bases for this shade in addition to two floor base options. This shade is also perfectly sized to be hung as a chandelier fixture. This lamp is currently available in our showroom.

Hollyhock Window

While Irwin has been working on lamp projects for clients, Bill has been busy creating this Hollyhock Window for our showroom.

The Impressionistic coloration of the window shows deep red hollyhock flowers in full bloom. A variety of glasses have been used including mottled, streaky, ripple, and fracture/streamer. The resulting window evokes a corner of a mature garden in the full glory of summer.

With a composition inspired by an 1863 oil painting by John LaFarge, this highly detailed window is 24" x 36". Bill composed the window to include an arched border that features unique insets in the upper corners. The insets are composed of polished quartz pebbles surrounded by one-of-a-kind fracture/streamer glass, which adds color and dimension to the window.

This window is currently available for purchase in our showroom.

22" Dragonfly

Commissioned by a couple in Ohio, this 22" Dragonfly shade has a fresh, lively color palette. The rich butter yellow glass at the top of the shade makes a dramatic shift into lavender/purple, setting off the dragonflies at the bottom. This shade design is often referred to as the "Drophead Dragonfly" because the dragonflies themselves create the irregular lower edge of the shade.

We are showing the shade on the versatile Twisted Vine base. The base has a deeply modeled, organic design that perfectly compliments shades of many different shapes and sizes. The base works equally well with 20" shades and larger 22" designs.
