Mermaid Lamp

Commissioned by a client in Iowa, this Mermaid with Nautilus lamp is an unusual Tiffany Studios lamp design. The highly detailed bronze casting is created at our studio and shows a dolphin-tailed mermaid with flowing hair rising above the wildly churning water. The stained glass nautilus shell she holds aloft is lit from within, providing a soft light  to guide her way.

Lamp of the Week: 25" Roman Shade

The 25" Roman shade has an unusual shape which is generally referred to as "elephant ear" and which lends itself to many applications. Generously proportioned, the Roman makes a wonderful inverted chandelier fixture, as well as a floor lamp and large table lamp. This richly colored shade features fiery amber and red tones and is shown on the Tree Trunk base. This lamp was created in 2005 for a local client.

New Wally Birds

We recently received a couple of new Wally Birds from Bur Oak Pottery. These three pieces were intended to be part of a larger grouping, but the others did not survive the bisque and glaze firings intact. All pieces by Bur Oak are hand sculpted in stoneware, then fired in a wood fired kiln with a salt glaze. The heads are movable and removable to store treasures inside! Each piece is mounted to a hand turned painted wooden base.

Cunning Bird - 10.25" tall - This plump fellow knows where all the best worms are, but he is keeping this knowledge to himself.

Mischievous Bird - 12" tall - This guy knows the answers to all the questions, but is not telling.

Platypus Jar - 13.5" tall - Not strictly a Wally Bird, this jolly fellow is ready to plunge off his pedestal and go for a swim.

Lamp of the Week: 16" Cyclamen

With its distinctive upturned flower petals, the Cyclamen is an unusual flower to find on a Tiffany lamp shade. Louis C. Tiffany was drawn, no doubt, to the sculptural nature of the plant and the vibrant hues of the flowers. The shade pictured was created in 2007 and is shown on the Ribbed base.
