Lamp of the Week: 16" Dogwood

The 16" Dogwood is a bright, cheerful shade design covered in large open flowers. Pink and white flowers tinted with purple and cream are set against a fresh blue sky. The use of mottled glass throughout the piece gives the shade a sun dappled appearance. The shade is shown on the elegant Lummis base. This lamp was commissioned by a client in South Carolina in 2019.

18" Tulp, Part 1

While Irwin Terry continues work on a matching pair of 16" Turtleback shades, Bill Campbell has been creating an 18" Tulip lamp. Our client requested red tulips and prefers rich color tones.

Once the flowers and background were in place, a variety of mixed greens were chosen for the leaves and stems. Work continues on both projects.

Lamp of the Week: 20" Jonquil Daffodil

The 20" Jonquil Daffodil is one of the few Tiffany Studios lamp patterns that incorporates two varieties of flower on the same shade. The upper half of the shade features large yellow daffodils with their trumpets nodding gracefully while the lower half is scattered with a profusion of delicate Narcissus blooms whose bright faces are turned upwards towards the sun. The subtle blue of the background glass and the green border tones interact harmoniously with the flowers. Commissioned in 2013 by a client in New York, the shade is shown on the Library base (base 24" tall).

30" Lotus Chandelier

The 30" Lotus Chandelier is one of the largest reproduction Tiffany shade we create at Century Studios. With its generous proportions and six chain fixture this impressive chandelier will be the focal point of any interior. This fixture is currently available for purchase from our studio showroom.

Due to its size, every aspect of creating this shade presents unique challenges. Laid flat during the glass selection and foiling stages, the shade occupied every flat work surface. Soldering, cleaning and applying the patina on a shade of this size almost becomes a full body contact sport.

This shade is the perfect showcase for exceptional glass choices and Bill Campbell took full advantage of the boldness of the pattern when he made the glass selections. Voluptuous pink flowers play against the mixed greens of the leaves.

Due to the size of the shade and the boldness of the design, the glass selection emphasizes saturated colors. Accents of teal and red add an element of surprise to the leaves while swirls of pink embolden the flower petals.

A heavy cast bronze crown adorns the top of the shade. Further adding to the excitement of the piece is the undulating lower edge of the shade.

The fixture flows from the ceiling, gaining momentum as it expands from a central pole to the viking ball from which six chains support the shade. The length of the fixture as shown is 52" from the ceiling to the bottom of the shade. The length is adjustable. This impressive chandelier is currently available for purchase from our studio showroom.

Lamp of the Week: 16" Geometric with Lustre Balls

Tiffany Studios designed many unusual stained glass shades, including this 16" Geometric with Lustre Balls. The simple shade is bisected by a row of iridescent glass balls, giving the shade a unique three dimensional look. Each hand made glass ball is held in place individually in an over sized jeweler's - style setting that allows the translucent ball to pick up light from inside the shade. Shown on the Decorated Trumpet base (22" tall), this shade was commissioned in 2011 and is in a private collection.

16" Bamboo, Part 2

We have completed the 16" Bamboo lamp. Like many floral motifs that inspired stained glass lamp patterns, Tiffany Studios designed bamboo shades in several sizes. At Century Studios we recreate both the 16" and 22" Bamboo shades. As discussed in our previous posting, the long leaves on bamboo shades are heated in a kiln and slumped to fit the curvature of the shade form. This lamp was created as a showroom piece and has been sold.

The shade is covered in fresh green leaves sprouting from the woody bamboo stems. The background glass for the shade is a light green tinged with tones of smokey blue. The calming nature of the pattern is enhanced by the contemplative color scheme.

The 16" Bamboo shade is shown on the Bamboo Table base (23" tall).

Our selection of reproduction Tiffany bamboo lamp bases includes the small Bamboo Table base (23" tall) for 16" shades, and the large Bamboo Table base (27" tall) for 22" to 24" shades.

In addition to the table lamps, we also make two bamboo floor lamps. The Bamboo Junior Floor base (60" tall) can be used with 22" to 24" shades, while the Bamboo Senior Floor base (64" tall) works with 24" to 28" shades.

Lamp of the Week: 25" Fish Scale

The 25" Fish Scale shade is a large helmet shaped shade that can be used as a table lamp, floor lamp or chandelier. The glass shifts from celadon green at the top to green with amber on the lower half of the shade. We also gradually shifted the density of the glass from top to bottom to emphasize the color shift. The shade is shown on the Twisted Vine base (26" height with a tall riser). This meticulously crafted shade was commissioned in 2017 by a client in California.
