22" Dragonfly Pair

We are often asked to create matching pairs of lamps, and this set of 22" Dragonfly shades was commissioned by a client in Australia. The rich blue background glass is studded with medium blue glass "jewels". Amber bodied dragonflies create the irregular lower edge of the shades. One of the shades is shown on the Perforated base.

Lamp of the Week: 14" Daffodil

Commissioned by a local client in 2014, this 14" Daffodil shade heralds the changing of the seasons. The fresh springtime green leaves are accented by the green ripple glass in the border rows. Sunny yellow flowers in full bloom play against the light blue sky. The overall color effect of this shade is light and airy. The shade is shown on the Mushroom base.

16" Woodbine

Tiffany Studios often took inspiration for their lamp designs from climbing flowers and vines. The Woodbine, also known as Virginia Creeper, is a climbing vine whose leaves turn from green to vivid autumnal tones in the fall. Here, the colorful leaves are rendered in tones of amber, yellow, and orange against a background of fracture/streamer glass. The overall effect of this shade is a light, crisp fall afternoon. The shade is shown on a two tone glazed Leaves of Grass Pottery base. This lamp is currently available for purchase in our showroom.

Lamp of the Week: 22" Greek Key

The 22" Greek Key is a generously proportioned shade can be used as a table lamp, chandelier or on a floor base. Shown on the Twisted Vine table base, the warm amber tones of this shade are welcoming and inviting. We created this example in 2009 for a client in Virginia.

12" Geometric

This 12" Geometric shade, with its color shift from green at the top to cobalt blue at the bottom, perfectly compliments the Chinese base. In person, the colors shift evenly but the digital camera creates a light bulb "hot spot" for the photograph. This accent lamp was commissioned by a client in Canada.

Lamp of the Week: 18" Cobewb

The 18" Cobweb shade is an early Tiffany Studios shade design. Only three original examples of this pattern are known to exist. The shade is faceted with six flattened areas, each of which contain a spider's web. Cast metal branch work forms the irregular lower edge of the shade. The painstaking custom glass mosaic work on the Wheat Mosaic Base was executed at our studio specifically to compliment this shade. The lamp was made in the early 1990's and is now in a private local collection.

18" Alamander

The Alamander (also called Allamander and Allamanda) is a warm climate plant native to South and Central America which grows as a large flowering shrub. In the wild, Alamander is often found near streams and ponds and is a fast growing, sometimes invasive plant. It is often called "Golden Trumpet" even though cultivated varieties can have white or purple flowers.

We recently started this 18" Alamander shade as a showroom piece, but a local client stopped by the studio and purchased the shade while it was under construction. The shade blends together deep orange, amber and yellow flowers against a backdrop of purple and blue that is tinged with yellow. The green leaves and stems enliven the rich tones of the background, playing off  the border rows at the top and bottom of the shade. The completed shade is shown on the elegant Library base.

Lamp of the Week: 30" Lotus Blossom Chandelier

With its lush flowers and large saucer shaped leaves, the Lotus plant inspired many lamps, windows and fancy goods created by Tiffany Studios. The 30" Lotus Blossom Chandelier is one of the largest reproduction Tiffany lamps we make at Century Studios. This example, created in 2011 as a showroom piece and now in a private local collection, required sensitive, yet bold glass choices. The six chain fixture and irregular lower border on the shade give the piece a commanding presence.
