Lamp of the Week: 16" Arrowhead

The 16" Arrowhead is a Century Studios variation on Tiffany Studios 14" Arrowhead shade. The lower portion of the original shade design curves back under itself, creating a compact shade. By flaring the shade into a straight sided cone, the design has more closely resembles the 20" Arrowhead shade.

The arrowhead is a water plant which gets its name from the distinctive shape of the leaves. The mottled leaves are done in green with hints of blue and yellow, while the flowers are white with a blue tinge. The background and multiple border rows are shown in various shades of green which include mottled and textured glass.

This shade was commissioned by a local client in 2014 and is shown on the Mushroom base.

Lamp of the Week: 22" Geometric Brickwork

The 22" Geometric Brickwork shade can be used as a table lamp, floor lamp or chandelier fixture. Commissioned by a Southern client in 2011, the color of this shade makes a dramatic shift from red to green. It is shown on the large Telescoping Library base (this base is not currently available).

New Lamp Based and Studio Hours

Century Studios is pleased to introduce a new lamp base to our offerings, the Twisted Vine with Arms. This variation on the popular Twisted Vine base has five vine-like arms reaching out from the central stem to the cast shade support ring. The addition of the arms and ring transforms the lamp into a visually integrated unit, blurring the lines between base and shade. This look personifies Tiffany's early philosophy of lighting design in which individual pieces are treated as illuminated sculptures that become focal points in an interior.

This base has four lights and will support any 20" shade (18" height from table to ring). The Twisted Vine with Arms is shown with the 20" Waterlily shade. Both shade and base are currently available in our showroom.

Lamp of the Week: 14" Geometric with Luster Balls

Tiffany Studios created geometric shades with many unusual details that individualize the look of the shade. The 14" Geometric with Lustre Balls has the addition of a row of glass lustre balls bisecting the upper and lower portions of the geometric glass tiles. Each hand made ball has a Tiffany lustre surface and is held in place in a custom made, over sized jeweler's style setting. The setting allows light to pass through and around each semi translucent ball to pick up light from within the shade.

The geometric portion for this shade was cut from an orange amber glass made by the Chicago Art Glass company in the early 1990's. The shade is shown on the Small Stick base (20" tall) and was commissioned by a client in New York state in 2018.

14" Chestnut

The 14" Chestnut is a Century Studios original shade design. For this example, the multi-colored leaves and pink/white flowers are set against a brilliant blue background. The shade is shown on the Mushroom base. This lamp was commissioned by a client in California.

Lamp of the Week: Calamondin Orange Tree

The 18" Calamondin Orange Tree is a Century Studios original shade design. Calamondin Orange plants blossom and bear fruit simultaneously, lending inspiration for this colorful shade. With just under 2050 individual pieces, the pattern features a wealth of detail and is the most elaborate shade design we offer. Sprightly white blossoms and ripe fruit intermingle with lush green foliage against a golden background tinged with blue and green. Mounted on the sturdy Tree Trunk base, the shade begins with its crown of cast bronze intertwining branches at the top, the shade cascades downward to its irregular lower edge. Designed and created in 2014, the lamp shown resides in a Chicago area collection.

18 Light Lily Chandelier

We recently complete an 18 Light Lily Chandelier fixture for a local client. The fixture will be installed over the dining room table in the home.

Lamp of the Week: 16" Pomegranate

The 16" Pomegranate shade is an elegant geometric style shade. The color shifts from a light green/amber mix downwards to a green/white glass. The orange/amber pomegranates in the band play off the colors of the background glass. This shade was commissioned in 2006 and is shown on the versatile Small Stick base.
