Suncatchers

At Century Studios, we make many Suncatchers including this collection of reproduction Tiffany Studios moths, butterflies and dragonflies. These were originally designed as "light shields" which were intended to be hung from the firm's stained glass shades to shield the light bulb from a person sitting near the lamp.  All of these designs can be created in virtually any coloration, and we are showing several examples below.

Lamp of the Week: 16" Fish

The 16" Fish shade is one of our favorite Tiffany Studios lamp designs. The shade features five colorful Koi swimming lazily in rhythmic formation across the surface of the shade. Created in 2006, this shade has watery tones of green tinged with amber, purple and red highlights. The shade is shown on the Blown Glass & Bronze Lily Pad base. This unique base is made at Century Studios with a blown glass insert made to our specifications by Lundberg Studios.

10 Light Fixture

We just completed a custom 10 Light Ceiling Fixture for a local client. The client liked our 5 Light Ceiling Fixture with Lustre Balls, but needed something with more presence for their dining room. We constructed this version with gold blown glass lustre balls towards the top and lights at two levels. The fixture has a 14" round ceiling pan at the top and is 21" in length.

Artichoke Lamp Base

After many years and thousands of pots thrown, Steven Frederick and Cherie Jemsek, the artistic duo behind Jemerick Art Pottery, have decided to cease production and retire. We currently have a nice stock of Jemerick pots in our showroom. We also have one remaining Artichoke lamp base in stock. This base will work with 16" or 18" shades, and once it is sold there we will remove this style from our offerings.

28" Clematis

Century Studios is pleased to introduce a new shade to our reproduction Tiffany lamp offerings - the 28" Clematis. This generously proportioned shade has a non-repeating design and, while it is usually intended as a chandelier fixture, it can also be used as a large table lamp or on a Junior Floor Base.

Large Tiffany floral shade patterns give the lamp artist the opportunity to showcase exceptional glass, and we have utilized many unique glasses by Lins, Schlitz and our own Century Studios' hand rolled sheet glass for the flowers in this shade.  Deep purples and blues contrast with the multicolored background colors, allowing us to showcase the exceptional hand rolled glass.

Just as a clematis will have a intricately tangled appearance when growing in a garden, the pattern beautifully translates this look onto the shade. Clusters of flowers playfully cascade across the shade, clustering towards the top.

Irwin can be seen preparing the form with wax so the individual pieces can be transferred onto the form and soldering can begin on the shade. The shade is finished with a bead chain around the lower rim. We created this shade as a showroom piece and it is currently available for purchase in our showroom.

Window of the Week: River Tree

In 2005 we were commissioned by an artist in Florida to create a series of panels to be used as a room divider in her home. She provided us with a line drawing of a tree bending over a river and requested rich color tones of amber and brown. We translated her artwork into a series of stained glass panels.

The finished piece was installed with a swinging saloon style door (left four panels) and continued over an existing counter top (right three panels). The windows were held in position with custom metal frameworks. The final installation blocked the view from the kitchen of a space which became the artist's home studio.

Two Geometric Lamps

Century Studios was commissioned to create two geometric lamps by a local client. The first lamp is a 7" Geometric shade on the Piano Lamp base. The Piano Lamp style is a wonderful accent lamp, especially when placed atop a piano or book case. 

The second lamp is a 12" Acorn on a custom Pottery Lamp base. At Century Studios, we create Acorn shades in 10", 12", 14", 16", and 20" sizes. These versatile shades work with any interior decoration and can be made in a wide variety of colors.

The pottery lamp base was a custom piece created for this shade by referencing an original Tiffany lamp on a Grueby pottery base. The green glass was chosen to compliment the glaze on the base, and the amber "acorns" provide a color accent which enlivens the lamp.

Lamp of the Week: 16" Bamboo

The smokey background of this 16" Bamboo shade provides the perfect backdrop for the stalks and leaves which cover the shade. The glass for each leaf is heated in a kiln and bent to follow the curvature of the shade. The shade is shown on the popular Small Stick base. This lamp was commissioned in 2012 by a client in North Carolina.
