January at Century Studios

The month of January is always a busy time at Century Studios. After the bustle of the holidays, the new year has us looking ahead to our upcoming projects while working on projects that were started in December. Our trip to the foundry last week has given us plenty of lamp bases to finish for clients.

We continue to multitask as we have been steadily working on a 28" Magnolia shade for a client.

18" Alamander

The Alamander (also called Allamander and Allamanda) is a warm climate large flowering shrub often found near streams and ponds that is a fast growing, sometimes invasive plant. The 18" Alamander shade has a shallow cone shape covered in flowers. Shown on the Tall Flower Petal base (20" tall), this lamp has been sold and is now in a private collection.

We chose a variety of textured glasses for the shade. The transparent sparkling background is tinged with purple and has a hammered texture. This glass was made by Schlitz Studios in the 1980's. The purple tones compliment the rich yellow, peach and oranges in the flowers. The flower glasses are a variety of mottled and heavily rippled glasses.
