20" Poppy

The 20" Poppy is one of Tiffany Studios best designed shades. Every element in the shade has been carefully considered, and there are no frivolous details. The lower borders provide a solid foundation from which the flowers "grow", and the plants are grounded by an undulating horizontal section of leaves from which vertical stems rise upwards. Each thin stem is represented by a lead line and every stem supports a bud or flower.
Tangerine colored poppy flowers are set against an lightly mottled off-white background that is subtly tinted with green. The leaves and borders have an olive green cast which transitions into the glaze colors of the base. The addition of filigree overlays on the flower centers and leaves add the perfect finishing touch to the design.
The Kendrick Pottery base is perfectly proportioned to the shade. The pottery portion of the base was made by Ephraim Faience Pottery and the reproduction Tiffany lighting and metalwork was created at our studio. This lamp was commissioned by a client in California.

Lamp of the Week: 28" Grape

The distinctive foliage and plentiful fruit produced by climbing grape vines were a popular motif in Tiffany windows and lamps. This 28" Grape design is a rare variation on the 28" Grape Trellis shade. We acquired the pattern 18 years ago from an original Tiffany shade in a local collection.

Grape clusters in purple, blue and red hang from the intertwining woody stems. The background is an unusual lightly textured Lins glass, and the leaves are chosen from a mix of mottled and rippled glasses. Created in 2002 as a showroom piece, this shade was purchased by a client in Iowa.

7" Violet

The 7" Violet is a Century Studios original shade design that is one of the smallest shades we make. Designed by Bill Campbell in 2006, this delicate shade adheres to the "Tiffany rule" that the flowers be rendered life size and that the size and shape of the shade takes its inspiration from the plant. Commissioned by a local client, this violet shade has white flowers rather than the traditional purple. Peach, pale yellow and spring green were selected to give the shade a light and airy look.

Every aspect of this shade is done in miniature, making this one of our most painstaking shades to create. The pieces of glass, especially the flower centers, are often no larger than chips of glass, yet each piece is precisely cut, fit, foiled and soldered by hand.

The shade is shown on the Petite Lily Pad base. Our client requested an overall height of 14" for the lamp, and the height of the base was scaled to fit the request.

Lamp of the Week: 22" Nasturtium

The 22" Nasturtium is a bold pattern that calls for an expressive use of glass. Commissioned by a Chicago area client in 2001, this shade has strong colors and an interesting variety in the glasses. Rippled and granite textures are used throughout to give a jewel like feel to the piece.

After receiving the Mosaic Turtleback base, our client christened it, "The mother of all bases!" Created in our studio using molds taken off an original Tiffany example, we agree that this large base has all the bells and whistles. The band of turtleback tiles is illuminated from within, while the mosaic on the lower portion is viewed in reflected light. We can create this base using a variety of turtleback and mosaic color schemes.

22" Dragonfly

The 22" Dragonfly is one of our most popular shade patterns. Generously proportioned, the upper portion of the shade is studded with pressed glass jewels, while the irregular lower edge is formed by a line of dragonflies. Commissioned by a client in Iowa, this lamp has a dramatic color shift from bright sunny yellow/amber to a rich, deep blue/purple. The light blue jewels contrast with the orange bodies and yellow wings of the dragonflies. The sculptural Twisted Vine base supports the shade, which is topped with a distinctive Pig Tail Cap.

Lamp of the Week:20" Dragonfly

Dragonfly lamps can be made in colors from bright and sunny to deep and moody. This 20" Dragonfly shade has the fiery warmth of burning embers. The background for the shade was cut from textured green and red glass made in the late 1990's. The dragonflies have amber wings, red/orange bodies, and glowing green/amber eyes. The deep red and green glass "jewels" that dot the upper background of the shade were created at our studio. Commissioned by an out of state client in 2014, the shade is shown on the elegant Decorated Trumpet base.

20" Waterlily

The 20" Waterlily is one of our most popular reproduction Tiffany shade designs. The shade makes an impressive table lamp and is perfect as a chandelier fixture.

For the water portion of the shade, we found a unique piece of drapery glass in our glass library. Made in the late 80's/early 90's, the glass is thickly textured with an undulating hard candy surface. Cobalt blue, green, and azure blue are deftly mixed together with glass fractures added on the reverse. Against this striking backdrop, a variety of lush pink, amber, peach and white flowers and buds nestle amongst large lily pads in mixed tones of green. The purple rippled border rows add an element of surprise to the shade.

The Twisted Vine base (24.5" tall) emulates the plant's stems reaching from the bottom of the pond to the floating flowers and pads above. This stunning lamp is currently available for purchase in our showroom.

Lamp of the Week:

With just under 2000 individual pieces of glass, the 22" Laburnum shade takes close to 300 hours to complete. The Laburnum has the unique feature of being lobed, which in combination with the irregular lower edge, gives the lamp a heightened three dimensional quality. The shade is shown on the Twisted Vine table base (24.5" tall)
The shade represents a flowering Laburnum tree, and the design begins at the top with dense foliage and branches. At the crown of the shade, a deep cerulean blue sky compliments the mix of lush greens and warm brown tones. A smattering of blossoms begin to appear among the branches, the trailing flower clusters becoming denser on the lower three quarters of the shade. Bright yellow, deep yellow, light and dark amber, and yellow tinged with green have been skillfully blended together to play off the leaves and lighter azure tones of the sky. This lamp was completed in early 2018 for a client in Florida.
